How I Quit Smoking

I used cigarettes as  crutch to help me stop drinking. It was  an example of cross addiction. If I make it to January 1st without any nicotine, I will have gone four years without nicotine of any kind. Over at healthyplace.com I shared my story of how I quit smoking and broke my addiction to nicotine. I’ve heard a lot of people in recovery from alcoholism say that quitting cigarettes was more difficult than getting sober. This was absolutely NOT the case for me. My addiction to alcohol required a spiritual solution, whereas with nicotine I was able to employ willpower and behavioral changes. As New Year’s fast approaches, many people will resolve to quit smoking. I hope my story can help.
